Meticulous research and high-quality photographs on the theme of "The Horse in the Service of Mankind" highlight the immense importance of this imposing animal, which today mostly serves as a leisure companion or sporting partner, but for most of its domestication over 5,000 years ago ensured human survival. The flight animal, the horse, and humans worked side by side. Indispensable in agriculture, decisive in entire wars, or toiling underground – with "Wild Mustang – The Horse Gallery," photojournalist Ulla Kimmig aims to create a new, dignified public sphere through thematically changing exhibitions, where the memory of the horse's achievements is revived in an informative and entertaining way.

THE PIT HORSE
Since time immemorial, the horse has been humankind's closest partner. It was indispensable in agriculture, connected cities and countries, decided wars, and played a crucial role in the struggle for the precious black diamond, coal. Yet, despite its ubiquitous presence in Europe and America, it is barely mentioned in libraries on 19th- and 20th-century history.
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP COUNTDOWN LUHMUHLEN
“Wild Mustang - The Horse Gallery” makes the 1982 World Championship exhibition possible. As part of the Longines Luhmühlen Horse Trials from June 16th to 19th and the German Youth Championships from June 23rd to 26th, 2022, Ulla Kimmig will present the 1982 World Championship exhibition in her mobile gallery.
THE FIRST MOVIE STAR WAS A HORSE
On June 15, 1878, photographer Eadweard Muybridge captured the trot of a horse bearing the curious name Abe Edgington at the Palo Alto racetrack in California using several coupled cameras.
Long before Thomas Edison and DW Griffith began their careers as film pioneers, before the first cowboy actor galloped across a silent film screen on a faithful steed, before the entire film industry exploded under the sound of thundering hooves, a revolutionary series of shots of a horse in motion was created.
Thanks to a bet on its hooves, this horse had entered new technical territory:
Abe Edgington and the twelve pictures that changed the world.
