From here, it's just nine kilometers to Villedieu-les-Poêles. The town is known for the traditional Cornille-Havard bell foundry, the coppersmiths, and the lacemaking tradition, which is showcased in a museum. It's a very charming little town with a truly French atmosphere and many good restaurants and cafés.

The larger town of Vire lies in the opposite direction, about eighteen kilometers away. It is the southernmost town in the Calvados department and offers a fantastic shopping experience. A wonderful market takes place there on Fridays, and supermarkets and shopping districts are spread throughout the town.

Saint-Sever lies in between. It is four kilometers from the house, located right on the D524, and offers a full range of shopping and dining options: a bakery, butcher, greengrocer, florist, Carrefour supermarket, and several small restaurants offering takeaway food.
